(BUSINESS) Fastag to get free at toll plaza by March 1: NHAI

Business Desk: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has announced a free fastag till 1 March 2021. Earlier it was charged 100 rupees for putting it. This facility will be provided at 770 toll plazas across the country. The aim is to encourage more and more vehicle owners to buy FASTag.
Currently, FASTag has been deployed in 87 per cent of the places. There is a 7 percent increase in just 2 days. In which more than 100 toll plazas have been reduced to 90% cash. As of 17 February 2021, there have been 60 million transactions at the toll plaza through FASTag and earned over 95 crore through them.
Let us tell more than 40 thousand booths across the country that NHAI has built more than 40,000 booths across the country to recharge Fastag. Apart from this, it can also be recharged from many online platforms. You can also buy Fastag through SBI, ICICI, HDFC Bank, Axis Bank, Paytm. My FASTag App has been launched for people walking on the highway. Through which users can check the balance of their FASTag.
FASTag has decided to eliminate the lowest limit of the wallet. If the balance of Fastag wallet is non-negative then users will not be stopped at the toll plaza. NHAI has said in a statement that 100% cashless tolling has received strong support from highway users with record sales of 2.5 lakhs in the last 2 days.
