New Delhi: Confederation of All India Traders (CAT), an association of retail traders, wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, ahead of its call for 'Bharat Bandh' on 26 February. In this letter, the organization mentioned issues related to Goods and Services Tax (GST) system and alleged violations of e-commerce rules by major companies.
CAT also asked the Prime Minister to review the GST structure and set up a special working group at the central level to advise the government, which includes senior officials, CAT representatives and independent tax experts. CAT also suggested that a district GST working group could be formed in every district to facilitate smooth implementation of GST and increase the tax net and revenue. Kat said that some recent amendments to the GST have given 'arbitrary and immoral powers' to government officials. This is against the Prime Minister's mission of 'Minimum Government, Maximum Governance'.
