The rupee rises by 15 paise at 82.32 in early trade against the US dollar

The rupee on Monday rose 15 paise to 82.32 against the US dollar in early trade on softening crude oil prices and a positive trend in domestic equity markets. In the interbank foreign exchange market, the rupee opened at 82.35 against the US dollar and later rose to 82.32. Thus the rupee registered an increase of 15 paise over the previous close. The rupee on Friday closed 14 paise lower at 82.47 against the US dollar.
Meanwhile, the dollar index, which reflects the US dollar's position against the six major currencies, fell 0.01 percent to 110.73. Global oil index Brent crude futures were down 0.52 percent at $95.27 per barrel. Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth a net of Rs 1,568.75 crore on Friday, according to provisional stock market data.
