Peshawar: During the vaccination campaign against polio in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of north-west Pakistan, some unidentified gunmen attacked and killed two policemen on Wednesday. police gave this information. Shahbaz, deputy superintendent of police of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, said two policemen were attacked by unidentified gunmen on their way back to their homes after conducting a vaccination campaign in Rustam village of Mardan district of the province.
After cordoning off the spot, the police have started the operation to nab the culprits. The Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, Mahmood Khan, condemned the attack and expressed condolences to the families of the slain policemen. Apart from Afghanistan and Nigeria, Pakistan is the third country to still have some cases of polio. Efforts to eradicate the disease in Pakistan have been severely affected in recent years by radicals targeting teams involved in vaccination campaigns.
