Four people died in a clash during a demonstration demanding the removal of the judge in Beirut.

A clash broke out in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Thursday between supporters and soldiers of the militant group Hezbollah demanding the removal of a judge investigating last year's bombings at a port in the city. Four people were killed, while many were injured in the firing from both sides with deadly weapons like pistols and rifles. Grenades were also used in the conflict.

An officer told the media that snipers were hiding in buildings and firing bullets. Four shells fell near a French school. Frightened by this, the students hid in the central hall of the school and left their windows open, so as to cause minimum damage. This incident reminded of the civil war that took place during the year 1975-90. Prime Minister Najib Mikati has appealed to the people to maintain peace. A large number of Lebanese troops have been deployed throughout the area.

It is noteworthy that on August 4, 2020, at least 215 people were killed in an explosion at a warehouse in a port in Beirut. Judge Tariq Bitar is investigating the incident. Supporters of Hezbollah are demanding his removal, accusing the judge of bias.
