IHME's Kovid Warning - If not taken 'drastic steps', there will be more than 1 million deaths in India by August 1

Los Angeles: Corona virus causing havoc in the world is causing the most devastation in India. The number of infections and deaths due to infection in the country are increasing. The US Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (IHME) estimates that as of August 1, more than 1 million kovid deaths could occur in India if 'drastic measures' are not taken soon. Earlier the institution had estimated 960,000 deaths by this date.

According to IHME, without taking drastic steps to strengthen the health system and adherence to social distancing and effective use of face masks, India's situation is quite bad. The IHME is a global health research center at the University of Washington and its projections on COVID-19 have been widely accepted based on robust models.

According to IHME estimates, by August 1, 2021, there may be 1,019,000 kovid deaths in India. And in the worst case, the number of deaths can be up to 1.2 million. This estimate is based on data from 25 to 30 April. Due to this deadly disease, the number of people who died of corona last week has increased by 78%. Jack Salivian, the top official of the Biden administration and national security adviser in the US, said the epidemic in India has been out of control.

The IHME estimates that the peak of daily Kovid deaths will occur on May 20, when 12,000 deaths a day can occur. The institution previously estimated the May 16 date for this peak. However, if universal mask coverage (95%) is achieved within the next week, our model estimates that by August 1, the estimated deaths will be reduced by 73,000. The IHME said its estimate is based on what is most likely to happen. IHME said that the model is based on if the vaccine is given at the same pace and how the government enforces the social distancing rules.

Peshawar: In countries like America, where many kinds of temptations are being given to promote the anti-corona vaccination campaign, Pakistan has come down to threats. There has been a threat to block the SIM card in Pakistan for not getting the vaccine. This decision was taken by the Punjab Government of Pakistan on Thursday.

According to media reports, during a meeting chaired by Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Health Minister of Punjab province in Pakistan, it was decided that the SIM cards of those who do not get the vaccine will be blocked. Civil and military officers were present in the meeting. During the meeting, the officials decided that walk-in vaccination will be started for people above 18 years of age from June 12. Let us tell you that by the end of December this year, Pakistan has set a target to vaccinate 70 million people.

The provincial government will set up mobile vaccination camps outside shrines across the province and vaccinate people with cancer and AIDS on a priority basis. The government said that people will be able to attend cinema, restaurants and weddings only after getting the vaccine. The decision comes at a time when the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) announced the opening of walk-in vaccination facility for all citizens above 18 from Friday, June 11.
