The Indian Air Force has received 94,281 applications within four days of the start of the registration process under the Agneepath Recruitment Scheme. The scheme was announced on June 14. After this, there were violent demonstrations in many states against it for about a week and many opposition parties are demanding its withdrawal. Defense Ministry spokesman A. Bharat Bhushan Babu wrote on Twitter, 'A total of 94,281 people have applied for Agniveer Vayu as of 10.30 am (on Monday). The Air Force had received 56,960 applications under the scheme till Sunday. The government has said that under the scheme this year, youth between the age of 17-and-a-half to 23 years will be inducted into the army for a tenure of four years and 25 percent of them will be inducted into regular service later.

The Congress on Monday staged protests at the assembly constituency level across the country against the Agneepath scheme. During this, he demanded the government take it back. The main opposition party also campaigned on the Internet media with the hashtag Satyagraha for Youth. Former Congress President Rahul Gandhi targeted Prime Minister Narendra Modi over this plan. Alleged that he is making his friends wealthy while making youths Agniveers on a four-year contract.

Huge uproar in Bihar Legislature at Agneepath
On Monday, the opposition created a ruckus in both the houses of the Bihar Legislature regarding the Agneepath scheme of the Army. Not only this, the leaders reached in front of the chair and raised slogans, due to which the proceedings of the house had to be adjourned. In the Legislative Council also, the opposition raised slogans on the issue of Agneepath. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Ministers Tarkishore Prasad and Renu Devi were present in the House at the time when the opposition's ruckus was going on in the Assembly.
