Big blow to BJP before panchayat elections, former district president joins SP

Etawah: A round of speculation about the Lodhi vote bank has started after the former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president Shiv Pratap Rajput joined the SP ahead of the panchayat elections in Etawah district of Uttar Pradesh, a socialist stronghold. Former Etawah BJP president Shiv Pratap Rajput joined SP on Saturday at the SP office in Lucknow. According to political analysts, even before the announcement of the panchayat elections, Shivpratap's SP is expected to have a major impact on the Lodhi vote bank in the district. Shiv Pratap has been the head of the Badhapura block, considered to be the most important of Etawah. Secondly, he has also contested from BJP from Dibiyapur in Auraiya district. His wife and brother Avnish Rajput have already taken membership of SP.

Avnish is the District Vice President of SP. Shivpratap Rajput is considered to have a good hold in the Lodhi vote bank. SP leaders believe that with the help of Shivpratap Rajput in the upcoming assembly elections, the SP's Naiya can be overcome. The Lodhi vote bank is considered extremely important in Etawah district. Every party persists in grabbing the Lodhi vote bank because the Lodhi vote bank plays a decisive role. The Lodhi vote bank was favored by the Samajwadi Party due to late SP leader Mahendra Singh Rajput. Prior to Mahendra Singh Rajput from Sadar Vidhan Sabha in the district, no backward caste candidate could cross the election poll.

However, after his victory, Mahendra Singh Rajput's sting continued to ring in the subsequent three elections. After the untimely demise of Rajput at the age of 47 in 2012, the Lodhi caste has not been represented in this seat. By the way, the sympathy of Lodhi caste in Etawah has been in BJP because of Kalyan Singh. Whether it has been Kalyan Singh, whether it has been Uma Bharti or Kalyan's son Rajveer Singh Raju, his meetings have been held in Lodhi-dominated areas so that the vote of this caste continues to be received by the BJP.
