New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry on Wednesday refused permission to allow 600 Sikh pilgrims to visit the gurdwara, citing security and the status of Kovid-19 in Pakistan. Officials told about this. In a letter to the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), the Ministry of Home Affairs has said that the security situation in Pakistan is still unfavorable and there is a danger to Indian citizens there. In addition, the Kovid-19 pandemic in Pakistan has so far infected half a million people and the infection has claimed 10,000 lives.
The ministry said that health-related infrastructure in Pakistan is also not sufficient. The ministry has said that passenger traffic and trade services between India and Pakistan have also been stopped since March 2020 due to the epidemic. Citing these reasons, the Home Ministry told the SGPC that it has decided not to allow the batch of 600 pilgrims willing to visit Pakistan on Friday.
