Cyclone Amphan: PM Modi announces Rs 1,000 crore immediate relief to West Bengal 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced Rs 1,000 crore immediate relief package to West Bengal in sight of the devastation and casualties caused by cyclone Amphan within the state. PM Modi has also announced Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 each to the persons who sustained serious injuries during cyclone Amphan landfall within the state. The casualties thanks to cyclone Amphan has climbed to 80 in West Bengal .

Assuring rehabilitation of the destroyed lives and livelihoods, PM Modi said a team by the Central government are going to be sent to West Bengal to access the losses and damaged caused thanks to cyclone Amphan.

"A team are going to be sent by the Central government to conduct an in depth survey about the damage caused thanks to cyclone Amphan and therefore the current situation of the affected areas," PM Narendra Modi said, adding, "We all want West Bengal to maneuver ahead."

"I are in-tuned with everyone. we've taken all possible measures to scale back damages [due to cyclone Amphan]. We empathize with everyone and are with the state during this hour of crisis. Massive damages are reported in infrastructure, businesses, agriculture and properties," PM Narendra Modi announced.

Sitting some feet faraway from the West Bengal chief minister, PM Modi said Mamata Banerjee has given an assessment of losses within the state. "We will assess it further. I even have done an aerial survey with the chief minister [Mamata Banerjee] and Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar," PM Modi said.

On cyclone Amphan, PM Modi said, "In the month of May, the country was busy with elections and at that point we had to combat a cyclone that battered Odisha. Now, after a year, this cyclone has affected our coastal areas. People of West Bengal are worst suffering from it."
