The Assam Police on Saturday seized a consignment of banned drugs worth Rs 15 crore and arrested two drug smugglers in the Karbi Anglong district. The drug was recovered from a vehicle coming from Manipur. Police had received information from the informer about the transportation of the consignment of narcotics, following which a checking operation was conducted at Dilai Tiniali under the Bokajan sub-division.

Bokajan Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) John Das said, “A vehicle with registration number UP-14BV-4234 was intercepted, which was coming from Manipur. When a thorough search of the vehicle was done, we recovered about 4 kg of morphine, which was hidden in the rear of the vehicle.
two drug smugglers arrested
Police have also arrested two drug smugglers, identified as Hemkholal Lunkin (37) and Jangminlal Haokip (38). Both the arrested accused are residents of Manipur. The police officer also said that the market value of the seized drugs has been estimated at Rs 15 crore. A case has been registered under the NDPS Act. The investigation is going on.
Drugs worth 10 crores were recovered on Wednesday
Earlier on Wednesday, Assam Police had seized a huge quantity of banned narcotics worth Rs 10 crore in the Karbi Anglong district. The police have also arrested four smugglers and seized two vehicles.
