Five people including three officers of the APPSC office suspended

The investigation of the much-talked-about paper leak case of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) is now in the hands of the CBI. At the request of the Arunachal Pradesh government, the agency has registered a case and started an investigation. On Saturday, three officers of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission office, Deputy Secretary Bate Koyi, Under Secretary Joram Nagu, and Private Secretary Debashish De were suspended under the provision of Article 371H.

Also, two more officers, Joint Secretary Neema Tondarang, and Personal Assistant Swarup Bhattacharjee have been suspended in connection with the paper leak case. On the request of the Arunachal Pradesh government, a case has been registered against a person and unknown officials of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) in connection with the alleged leak of exam question paper conducted for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil), the agency said.

This action has been taken due to the alleged involvement of these officers in the leak case. In an order, Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) secretary D Verma has also directed the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against all of them. He has also directed the officials not to move out of the state capital Itanagar till the order is implemented.

It is alleged that these five were involved in leaking papers in the Assistant Engineer (Civil) recruitment examination held on August 26 and 27. This matter came to the fore two days later. Those suspended include the Deputy Secretary, Joint Secretary, and Under Secretary level officers of the Establishment Department of APPSC. The order of suspension has been issued on the instructions of Governor Brigadier (Retd) Dr. BD Mishra.

The investigation of the case has been handed over to the CBI and its officers have reached Itanagar. Earlier, the police had arrested APPSC Deputy Secretary, Co-Deputy Controller of Examinations Taket Jerang along with nine others. APPSC Chairman Nipo Nabam resigned from his post on October 14, taking moral responsibility for the matter.
