Lockdown 5.0: All public, private employees to hitch work from June 8, says West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday lashed out at the Centre and therefore the Railways for running 'corona express' as she announced fresh guidelines for the fifth phase of lockdown within the state.

Addressing the media two days before Lockdown 4.0 is slated to finish , CM Mamata Banerjee said that each one public and personal workplaces are going to be back to business within the state by June 8.

CM Mamata Banerjee also announced that each one religious places will reopen within the state from June 1, but quite 10 people won't be allowed to collect at these places. "Provisions of sanitisation must be followed at religious places. I hope all religious leaders will follow the rule," she said.

Mamata Banerjee announced that faculty will remain shut during June as their complexes are getting used as quarantine centres for migrants returning home.

While Mamata Banerjee said that she was happy that migrants were returning to their home state, she slammed the Centre and therefore the Railways for the alleged lack of social distancing during the journey.

"I am happy my migrant workers are returning . But i would like to ask, why are they being packed within the trains without social distancing?" she said.

Mamata Banerjee said since she has been the railway minister within the past she knows that the Railways has the capacity to run extra trains or add extra coaches within the trains to make sure proper social distancing among migrants onboard.

"Most of those workers are coming from hotspot states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu and Delhi so why can't the Railways run extra trains in order that some social distancing is maintained. No food no water... these migrants are being packed inside trains, sometimes double the capacity," she said.

"Do they need to convert Shramil Specials into Corona Express?" Mamata Banerjee said.

The chief minister urged the people to not hide their symptoms and seek medical help before self-diagnosing. She also requested doctors to start out seeing patients, but with full protection.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee said that the state is affected by a double whammy of coronavirus and Cyclone Amphan.

The CM announced that Rs 6250 crore are going to be released immediately to tackle the aftermath of Cyclone Amphan. Rs 20,000 are going to be given to five lakh households to repair the damaged caused by the cyclone.

She informed media that each one state highways and district roads are cleared of the debris accumulated by the cyclone.
