Jammu: Hundreds of liquor businessmen protested against the e-auction of liquor shops here. Businessmen are opposing the new excise policy. They say that under the new excise policy of Jammu and Kashmir, they are not in a position to compete with bidders outside the Union Territory to save their livelihood.
The protesters have kept their shops closed for the last several days against the new excise policy. The protesters gathered outside the Press Club here on Tuesday and staged a peaceful demonstration in support of their demands.
Charanjit Singh, president of the Jammu Wine Traders Association, told reporters, "We have been on the road for the last one month but no one is listening to us. We are worried about the new policy. This will put local traders out of business and This will benefit rich capitalists outside Jammu and Kashmir. "
