PM Modi to visit Mangarh Dham on November 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Mangarh Dham in the Banswara district of Rajasthan on November 1. He will attend a public program - 'Maangarh Dham Ki Gaurav Gatha' - being organized to pay tribute to the sacrifices of the unsung tribal heroes and martyrs of the freedom struggle. In this program, the Prime Minister will pay tribute to Bhil freedom fighter Shri Govind Guru and will also address a public meeting of Bhil tribals and other tribal communities of the region.
According to an official statement, the central government has taken several steps under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav initiative to remember the unsung tribal heroes of the freedom struggle. These include declaring November 15 (Birsa Munda's birth anniversary) as 'Tribal Gaurav Divas. The hills of Mangarh hold special significance for the Bhil community and other tribes of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Madhya Pradesh. Where the Bhils and other tribes fought the British for a long time during the freedom struggle. On 17 November 1913, under the leadership of Shri Govind Guru, more than 1.5 lakh Bhils held a meeting at Mangarh hill. The British opened fire on this gathering, which led to the Mangarh massacre where about 1500 tribals were martyred.
