Shopkeepers fearing construction of Delhi-Katra Express Highway

Samba : The shopkeepers of Vijaypur town are terrified of the Central Government's ambitious express highway road project connecting Katra via Delhi to Amritsar. The survey work has started for this express highway project to be made for only 6 hours from Delhi to Katra. Although according to the survey, shops and houses are being saved in most places, but in the Vijaypur area people fear that the existing highway is being widened for this.
In this connection, a delegation of Vijaypur Business Board met Jammu and Kashmir Provincial President and former minister Manjit Singh today. The shopkeepers led by Vijaypur Vyapar Mandal president Bharat Bhushan apprised the former minister about the shopkeepers' concerns and urged that the express highway be removed from outside in Vijaypur also so as not to damage the market. Former Minister Manjit Singh said that he has already taken up the issue with the Lieutenant Governor and demanded that the proposed highway be diverted via Raya Dayala to Raya Morh so that the markets on the road are not disturbed. At the same time, the shopkeepers said that the widening of the existing highway would ruin thousands of people and all business would be stalled.
