 Today is the last date for nominations for Padma Awards-2022. The Ministry of Home Affairs has given information about this matter. Nomination for the Padma Awards can be done online only at the official Padma Awards portal, padmaawards.gov.in. According to an official release issued by the ministry on Tuesday, "The nominations for the Padma Awards (Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri) to be announced on the occasion of Republic Day, 2022 are currently underway. The last date for nominations for the Padma Awards is September 15, 2021.

The ministry has said that the government is committed to make the Padma awards a 'People's Padma'. Therefore all citizens are requested to nominate such talented persons for the Padma Awards, whose excellence and achievements should be truly respected. Nominate women, Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes, Persons with Disabilities and those who work selflessly for the society for the Padma Awards.

The Ministry said that for nomination of Padma Awards, all the information in the form available on the above mentioned Padma Portal will have to be filled. In this, information about the achievements of the person who is being nominated will have to be given in 800 words. Further details in this regard are also available on the website of Ministry of Home Affairs under the heading 'Awards and Medals'. The rules relating to these awards are also available on the website.

The Padma award is one of the highest civilian honors of India. It is given annually on the eve of Republic Day. The awards are given in three categories: Padma Vibhushan (for exceptional and distinguished service), Padma Bhushan (distinguished service of a high order) and Padma Shri (distinguished service). The Padma Awards are conferred on the recommendations made by the Padma Awards Committee, which is constituted every year by the Prime Minister. The enrollment process is open to the public. Even self-nomination can be done.
