National Desk: The District Magistrate (DM) of West Tripura has been relieved of his post. They had forcibly halted the wedding ceremony while implementing the Kovid-19 protocol. Officials said on Monday that Shailesh Kumar Yadav had written a letter to Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar requesting that a departmental inquiry has started against him, so he should be freed from the post of West Tripura DM. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
High level inquiry committee was formed
Yadav said that the Tripura government has constituted a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the incidents on the night of 26 April 2021. According to the letter, the incidents occurred during the marriage ceremonies at the Manikya Court and Golap Bagan in violation of the Corona night curfew in Agartala. Cabinet spokesperson and State Law Minister Ratnalal Nath said that the Chief Secretary has accepted Yadav's letter and freed him from the post with immediate effect. Director of Industries and Commerce, Hamendra Kumar has taken over as DM of West Tripura.
