Day temperature higher than normal

Day temperatures will be above normal in parts of North, Northeast, East and West India. However, day temperatures are expected to be below normal in south and adjoining central India.

According to the Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature in Delhi and Haryana will be 0.71 degrees above normal. In Chhattisgarh, it will be 0.86 degrees higher.

The Meteorological Department has said that maximum temperatures are expected to be above normal in Chhattisgarh, Odisha, Gujarat, coastal Maharashtra, Goa and coastal Andhra Pradesh. Night temperatures are also expected to be above normal in most parts of northern India along with the foothills of the Himalayas, northeastern India, the western part of central India and the southern part of peninsular India.

The Meteorological Department has said that there is a moderate 'La Nina' condition over the equatorial Pacific region. At the same time, sea surface temperatures above the central and eastern equatorial Pacific Sea are below normal. IMD will now release the second summer forecast for April to June in April.

Record heat in January

The lowest temperature recorded in the country in January this year was the highest in the last 62 years. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather was particularly hot in South India during January.

The minimum temperature recorded in South India in January was 22.33 degrees Celsius, the hottest in 121 years. Not only this, Central India also recorded a minimum temperature of 14.82 degree Celsius in January, which was the hottest in the last 38 years.
