India won 2 gold medals in Montenegro boxing tournament

New Delhi: Winca (60 kg) and T Sanamacha Chanu (75 kg) won gold medals as India's young boxers continued their brilliant performance in the 30th Adriatic Pearl tournament in Budva, Montenegro. Apart from two gold medals, Indian boxers also won two silver and three bronze medals. Earlier, Alfia Pathan (over 81 kg) won the first gold medal for India in the current tournament.
Vinaka of Rohtak beat Moldova's Kristina Kripper 5-0 in the final while Manipur's Sanamacha defeated Raj Sahiba 5-0 in the All India Final in the 75kg category. India got the second silver in the 48kg category where Geetika faced a 1–4 defeat against Uzbekistan's Farzona Fojilova in the final despite a tough challenge.
In the women's 57kg semi-final, Preeti had to settle for a bronze medal with a 1–4 defeat against Bojana Gojkovic of Montenegro. In the men's category, Priyanshu Dabas (49 kg) and Jugnu (over 91 kg) won bronze medals. Both boxers lost in their respective semi-finals. Priyanshu lost 2-3 against Uzbekistan's Ishajonov Ibrokhim in a close match, while Jugnu was beaten 5-0 by Ukraine's Vecil Takachuk in a one-sided match.
Lucky Rana defeated Gulshoda Istamova of Uzbekistan 3–0 in the women's 64kg quarterfinals. He will take on Finland's Liya Pukila in the final on Sunday. Apart from Lucky, 2 more women boxers from India will compete for the gold medal on the final day. Babirojisana Chanu (51 kg) and Arunadhati Chaudhary (69 kg) will also enter the title match today. Babirojisana will face Sabina Bobokulova of Uzbekistan, while Arunaditya will face Mariana Stoiko of Ukraine.
