BENGALURU: Given the recent performance of the Indian team against the defending Olympic champions Argentina, front-row youngster Shilanand Lakda believes that his preparations for the upcoming Tokyo Olympics are in the right direction. The Indian team had won two out of four practice matches besides defeating Argentina in both FIH Pro League matches. Shilanand scored the last practice match to end the tour in a memorable way.
Talking to Hockey India, Lakra said- I think we did very well against the Olympic champions Argentina. Our recent performances show that we are moving in the right direction for big events like Olympics. "We are still focused on the next month's match against Britain in the FIH Pro League," he said.
Even after the young player is in the team, Shilanand is happy to be able to capitalize on Mouko. He said- After making my debut for the senior team three years ago, I expected myself to play more matches, but it is very competitive. There are a lot of great players in the core group of potential players.
