England wicket-keeper Jos Buttler faced a lot of flak for directing abuses at Vernon Philander in the garb of sledging throughout the 2nd Test match at Cape Town.

“I don’t think it used to be whatever serious,” Root said. “It was simply two guys taking part in difficult Test cricket. Emotions had been walking pretty high and I don’t think all and sundry overstepped the mark. You want a bit of spice on the TV anyway, don’t you?”
