Shakib Al Hasan made Dhoni the captain of IPL all-time XI, did not give place to Gayle and AB in the team
Bangladesh's star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan recently picked his all-time best Indian Premier League (IPL) XI, featuring some of the biggest names in the league. Shakib, who played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL, has appointed veteran MS Dhoni as the captain of his team. Dhoni has led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to three titles since the league's inception in 2008.
Shakib picked David Warner and Rohit Sharma as openers in his all-time IPL XI while he did not select stormy batsman Chris Gayle as openers. Rohit and Warner are among the top five batsmen among the highest run scorers in IPL. At No. 3, the Bangladesh all-rounder has placed Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli who is the highest run-scorer in the history of IPL.
Kohli has been the epitome of consistency in terms of scoring runs in the IPL and is the only batsman to cross the 6,000-run mark in the league so far. Shakib placed Chennai Super Kings' highest run-scorer Suresh Raina at number four, followed by Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul and MS Dhoni in the middle order. Dhoni is the captain of the team as well as the same in the team for the role of wicketkeeper.
Shakib did not keep his name in the IPL XI and picked Ravindra Jadeja and Ben Stokes as all-rounders in his team. Both Jadeja and Stokes are currently among the best all-rounders in the world across all formats. While Jadeja has 2290 runs and 120 wickets to his name, Stokes has scored 920 runs so far and has taken 28 wickets in 43 matches in IPL. At the same time, as a fast bowler, he included Lasith Maliga, Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his team.
