Two new teams are to be included in the Indian Premier League. The names of these teams are expected to be decided after the IPL matches to be held in the UAE. According to the information, BCCI can take this big decision only after two days of the final of IPL 2021. Auction for the team can be done on October 17 in Dubai.
According to the English website ChrisBuzz, the participants of the auction were informed by the BCCI about the three dates of September 21, October 5 and October 17. BCCI told that tender documents can be purchased till October 5. The auction is likely to take place on October 17. It is also known that there will be no e-auction. According to the information, there is a discussion about the name of the team of Ahmedabad and Lucknow cities. The team named after these two teams can be included in the next season.
It was already announced by the BCCI that from 2022 (IPL 2022) 10 teams will play in IPL instead of 8. A mega auction can be held in January next year for the purchase of players of these teams and players in the rest of the teams. In the auction of the two teams that are to be included in the tournament, the board is expected to earn Rs 5000 to 6000 crores.
There will be a change in the tournament due to the increase of the team
Each team may have to play 14 or 18 league matches after the number of teams increases from 8 to 10. According to the current format, in a season, all the teams have to play 7 matches at their home ground and 7 matches on the other team's ground outside. After increasing the number of teams, a team will have to play 18 matches. The increase in the number of matches is bound to make the tournament longer, taking the total number of matches to 74 or 94.
