Bulandshahr violence: Chief accused Yogesh Raj elected as District Panchayat member, defeating his rival by 21 votes
Bulandshahr: Yogesh Raj, the main accused of violence in Siana area of Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district in the year 2018, was elected as a district panchayat member while one of the accused has become the headman. According to sources Yogesh Raj, an accused in the violence, has been elected as the District Panchayat member from ward number five. Yogesh Raj Saina is out after getting bail from the court after spending one year in jail on charges of violence. Yogesh Raj defeated his rival Independent candidate Nirodh Chaudhary by 21 votes in the election.
Significantly, on December 3, 2018, there was violence and ruckus in the forests of village Mahav of Saina Kotwali area due to the discovery of the remains of cows. Bloody violence erupted at the police post after the uproar, in which the then in-charge inspector, Kotwal Subodh Kumar, was shot and killed. In this case Yogesh Raj was jailed for one year as the main accused after which he came out after getting bail from the court and now the District Panchayat member has been elected. On the other hand, Satyendra Rajput, the second accused of violence, has been elected village head.
