The preparations for the historic Mahatma Govind Saheb Mela of Purvanchal have started. After two rounds of meetings, preparations have gained momentum. Hundreds of shopkeepers from different districts of the state are coming and setting up their shops in the month-long fair at the shrine of Mahatma Govind Sahib. The shop of the oldest Lala Pannalal Subhash Chandra Khajale, who has become the identity of the fair, has started decorating. Govind Saheb Mela will start on 12th December.
In view of the fair, the administration has started the work of repairing the damaged entry roads. Repair and construction work is also going on in the roads and streets of the Mela area. A pumping set has been installed to drain the water of Govind Sarovar. This is causing water to drain. After draining the water, new clean water will be filled so that devotees do not face any inconvenience in taking bath. Arrangements for the cleanliness of the fair and the painting of the Math temples have also started. Fair Committee President Bhaumendra Singh Pappu, Khajla Merchants Association President Subhash Chand, Virendra Das etc. have demanded to complete all the preparations before the beginning of the fair and also organize cultural programs in the fair. The main bathing festival Govind Dashmi will be on December 13, while on December 12, Ghazipur, Ballia, Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Mau, Deoria, Kushinagar, Jaunpur, Basti, Siddharthnagar, The gathering of devotees will start from districts like Sant Kabir Nagar etc. From midnight onwards, the process of offering prayers and offering khichdi at the tomb of Mahatma Govind Saheb will start after taking a bath in Govind Sarovar.
