Lucknow: There was a huge jump in cases of corona virus infection in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday and 18,021 new cases of Kovid-19 were reported while 85 patients died due to infection.
Additional Chief Secretary (Health) Amit Mohan Prasad told reporters on Tuesday that 18,021 new cases of Kovid-19 have been reported in the state in the last 24 hours, while another 85 have died due to infection. He said that 9,309 people have died due to infection in the state so far. According to Prasad, a total of 7,23,582 people have been infected with the corona virus so far and the number of patients under treatment at present is 95,980. He said that 3,474 patients were discharged in the state in the last 24 hours. So far, 6,18,293 infected have gone home after treatment. The state had earlier recorded the highest number of 15,353 cases of Kovid-19 infection in a single day on 11 April, while the highest number of deaths of 72 infected were reported in a single day on 12 April.
Prasad said that so far more than 93 lakh Kovid-19 vaccine doses have been given in the state. 2.18 lakh samples were tested on Monday while more than 3.71 crore tests have been done so far. He said that 12 new RT-PCR laboratories are being opened in the state for testing the samples.
