UP By-Polls Result 2022: BSP sees victory even after defeating in Azamgarh, hope raised by Muslim vote share

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which contested only the Azamgarh by-polls out of two parliamentary seats in Uttar Pradesh, seems relieved to a great extent by the results. In the Yadav-dominated Azamgarh seat, BSP candidate Shah Alam alias Guddu Jamali got only 37,879 votes less than the runner-up SP. Party chief Mayawati, who is describing it as a thorn in the front, is confident that the 'thorn' in her path for the complete extermination of Muslims has been overcome to a great extent. Seeing victory in defeat, he has talked about continuing efforts to convince the particular community.

Out of the by-elections in Rampur and Azamgarh Lok Sabha seats, BSP chief Mayawati fielded a candidate only in Azamgarh. In Rampur, where there was only a direct contest between the BJP and the SP, in Azamgarh, the stronghold of the SP, BSP candidate Guddu Jamali made the contest triangular. Dinesh Lal Yadav of BJP followed behind 'Nirhua' by a margin of few votes while Dharmendra Yadav of SP kept walking till the final result was declared, Jamali followed Dharmendra.

BJP won the election, but the difference between SP and BSP was 37,879 votes. Since Yadav is the largest here, the BSP is assuming that it has got a substantial Muslim vote along with the Dalit vote. This result has given an impetus to the 2024 Lok Sabha elections that the minority community can choose the BSP as an alternative to defeat the BJP. BSP's election strategy will now remain the same, Mayawati has indicated through her tweet.

He tweeted and wrote that the ruling party wins most of the by-elections, yet in the Azamgarh Lok Sabha by-election, despite the handcuffs of the ruling BJP and SP, the thorn in the fight is commendable. He gave a message to the party office bearers and workers to move forward with more strength.

He said that this UP by-poll result has once again proved that only BSP has the theoretical and ground power to defeat the BJP here. The party's effort to explain this to the entire community, especially to the particular community, will continue continuously so that the much-awaited political change can take place in the state.
