Uttar Pradesh's coronavirus tally surpasses 8,000 with 378 new cases in single day

Uttar Pradesh recorded 378 new cases of the novel coronavirus between Saturday night and Sunday evening, the state Health Department said on May 31.

At an equivalent time, as many as 192 more Covid-19 patients recovered from the infection on Sunday and were discharged from various hospitals across the state. With this development, the state's tally of recovered patients has climbed to 4,843 out of the entire 8,075 confirmed cases so far .

Noida accounted for the foremost number of latest cases of infection with 49 more patients between May 30 and should 31.

Agra, however, continues to be the worst-hit with the district accounting for 882 confirmed cases, followed by Noida with 457, Meerut with 437, Lucknow with 386, Kanpur with 369, and Ghaziabad with 328 confirmed cases of Covid-19.

The state of Uttar Pradesh has witnessed 217 coronavirus-related deaths so far .

According to the UP Health Department, there are now 3,015 active cases of infection in India's most populous state.

Meanwhile, India's tally of active cases is nearing 90,000 with over 5,000 casualties as of May 31.
