Varanasi: Bad news for the devotees of Maa Vaishno Devi, the flight service from Jammu to Varanasi may be closed.
Varanasi-Vaishno Devi Flight: The air service for passengers to go to Maa Vaishno Devi Dham from Kashi, the city of Shiva, may stop from June. This service was started by Indigo Airlines between Jammu and Varanasi for the convenience of the passengers. Passengers expected this service to operate till October. Airlines representatives say that a slot of two months was taken, further operations can continue according to the number of passengers.
Let us inform that for Jammu, the aircraft operates from Lal Bahadur Shastri International Airport three days a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays. From this plane, passengers had another option other than the train. People were reaching Jammu in less time. The number of passengers on this route in April was very less. Only 50 to 60 passengers could be booked in a 180-seater plane. In the beginning of May, there was a slight increase in the number of passengers going from Kashi to Jammu. But the number of passengers coming from Jammu to Varanasi is very less. If the travel agency operators are to be believed, the airlines are shutting down operations due to lack of passengers.
People associated with travel and tourism say that airline operations should not be stopped. Aircraft should be promoted among the people so that they know about the facility and they can take advantage of it. This will also boost tourism and industry. There is a shortage of passengers in the initial phase, but when people come to know about the service, then the number will start increasing.
