Man lynched by mob following accident in Assam's Jorhat district

Aman was lynched by a mob following an accident in Assam's Jorhat district. The deceased has been identified as Debashish Gogoi from Noksari's Milgaon area.

Another man has been injured within the mob attack and is now undergoing treatment at a Jorhat hospital.

The horrific incident happened at Gabharu Parbat area near Mariani in Jorhat district.

According to the reports, Debashish and his friend Aditya Das visited the world for sightseeing and that they met with an accident during a garden area while returning and their two-wheeler hit two local women on Friday evening.

Following the accident, an outsized number of locals gathered and began beating up Debashish and his friend Aditya. The mob continued to beat the 2 men even after the daddy and sister of Debashish arrived on spot.

Later, both of them were admitted at a close-by hospital in serious conditions. But, Debashish succumbed to his injuries at the hospital on Saturday night.

Aditya, who survived the mob attack and is now admitted at the hospital, told India Today that the an enormous crowd beat them mercilessly following an accident near Gabharu Parbat tea factory.

"We met with an accident just ahead of Gabharu Parbat garden factory while we returning and our scooty hit two local women. an enormous crowd gathered on the spot and that they began to beat us," Aditya Das said.

Meanwhile, a police official of Deberapar police outpost said that they're probing the matter.

"We had reached the spot after receiving information from the locals that an accident had happened at the world . once we reached the spot, we didn't find the deceased man on spot. His father had taken him to hospital. We had found another man and admitted him at hospital. One youth succumbed to his injuries at hospital," the policeman said.

Meanwhile, Jorhat district police have arrested four persons in reference to the incident.

Jorhat district Superintendent of Police (SP) Mrinal Talukdar said that a case has been registered and 4 persons arrested thus far .
